In Kalkaska you can go to the Cherry Street Market (on M-72 a few blocks east of Hwy 131) - this is a great place for fresh fruits & veggies, deli meats, fresh made breads/pasteries, and has a fantastic garden/plant area. After a day of being out and about, you will enjoy getting back to your cabin - 4 walls is 4 walls no matter where you are staying. Kalkaska is one of the few communities up north that is working for community-wide free Wifi. ![]() If you have to drive a bit, that in itself is worth the trip! Here are a few ideas - but there is so much more that you can save for future trips with your friends. There are many things to do in the entire Grand Traverse region - just depends on your interests. I currently live in Traverse City - moving back to Michigan a few years ago from Colorado. Your cabin in Kalkaska sounds great! I've had a cabin in the Kalkaska area (nice small towns, friendly people, land/forests, lakes) - where you are really "Up North". ![]()
